Cruising Croatia with Beyond Travel
I recently had the incredible opportunity to join an educational trip with Beyond Travel, sailing along the stunning Dalmatian Coast of Croatia—and I can honestly say, it was one of the most beautiful and memorable travel experiences I've ever had.
Sailing around the Croatian islands is, without a doubt, one of the most leisurely, spectacular, and comprehensive ways to explore this part of the world. Life slows down as you cruise along the glittering Adriatic, with each stop revealing a new story, a new town, and a new hidden gem.
One of my favourite parts? Swimming straight off the back of the boat into the clear, turquoise sea—it’s every bit as magical as it sounds. From peaceful morning dips to afternoon swims after a day of exploring, the Adriatic is as inviting as it is breathtaking.
Each island has its own charm. We wandered through ancient walled towns, strolled cobblestone laneways, visited local markets, and soaked up centuries of history and culture. Whether it was sipping coffee in a quiet harbour village or learning about the region’s Venetian and Roman roots, I was constantly struck by how immersive and relaxing this style of travel is.
What sets sailing apart is the sense of freedom and intimacy. It’s not rushed, it’s not crowded—it’s personal. You unpack once, settle in, and let the coastline unfold day by day. And because this was a small-group educational journey with Beyond Travel, I had the chance to see how well this experience works for couples, families, and even groups of friends.
If you're planning a European summer holiday, I can't recommend this enough. Take a break from the bustling cities and give yourself at least a week to enjoy Croatia this way—you’ll come away with a deeper appreciation for the region, and plenty of memories to match.
